This adaptable plant can grow to a height of 6-8 feet in a single season. The yellow flower heads contain unequal length rays that droop from and open cluster. The long leaves taper at the base and form wings down the stem, giving the plant its name. It can tolerate full sun, but grows best in part shade, moist to wet soil.
