This is one of the taller sunflowers native to Kentucky, reaching a height of 7-9’. The 1-2” yellow flowers bloom in late summer followed by numerous seed heads, which attracts many species of birds. This species of sunflower contrasts well with the purple flowers of Ironweed. It prefers full sun and tolerates moist to dry soils.
