Although slow-growing, this species eventually forms a shrub-like clump. Stalks of small blue pea flowers emerge from a clump of blue-green, three-lobed leaves. The flowers produce very attractive dark, inflated seed pods. The seed pods are an attractive addition to dried flower arrangements.
